History tells us that Juan Bautista Pelaez, who was the owner of our farm, brought the Moka coffee variety from Yemen, a country in the Middle East, from which the name given to the farm comes.

In 1975, our father, Edgar Alvarez, acquired the La Moka farm, which he farmed alongside our mother, Matilde Escobar, for many years with all his passion and commitment.

In 2010, his daughter Dora Alvarez had the characteristics of La Moka coffee evaluated, finding a coffee of immense qualities. This is where the idea of being able to enjoy a cup of coffee grown on our own farm was born, giving added value to this work of so many years. As a tribute to our father, this valuable treasure was called "El Jerarca".

In 2022 and 2024, our parents passed away, leaving us in control of the farm, which we have cared for with all the love and dedication to nurture and improve every process that allows us to have an ideal harvest so that El Jerarca, the brand that represents our history and that we carry in our hearts, will always be a product of excellence.
